Sheriff’s Office seeks information in hit and run accident

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a car-pedestrian hit-and-run auto accident, which occurred on Route 9 at the intersection with Old Hopewell Road at approximately 10:50 pm on 10/12/13.

Investigation revealed that a male subject was crossing Route 9 on foot at the intersection with Old Hopewell Road when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The vehicle’s operator stopped briefly, but then left the scene before the arrival police or EMS. The victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

The Sheriff’s Office is looking for assistance in locating the vehicle and operator that fled the scene. Investigation and evidence at the scene have indicated that the vehicle is a dark colored SUV, possibly a dark metallic blue, with front end damage. The only description of the operator was that it was a male.
