The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports investigating a serious injury auto accident involving 2 motorcycles and 1 car, which occurred on Noxon Rd. near Maloney Rd. in the Town of LaGrange at approximately 5:45pm on 6/23/13.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the above location in response to a 911 call for a motorcycle accident, and upon arrival it was discovered that there were 2 victims with serious injuries. The injured parties are identified as Nicoy Murray (age 23 of Poughkeepsie) and Garfield Parker (age 29 of Poughkeepsie); both were transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment and remain there at the time of this release. Mr. Murray suffered possible multiple broken bones and extensive road rash, and Mr. Parker is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Murray and Parker were operating 2 separate motorcycles westbound on Noxon Rd., when they lost control and struck each other at the intersection of Maloney Road. After striking each other Parker’s motorcycle then struck an eastbound car, and Murray’s motorcycle slid and struck a guiderail. The occupants of the involved car were uninjured. The investigation into the exact cause(s) is continuing, however preliminary information has suggested that unsafe speed and unsafe passing are possible factors. Multiple witnesses have described seeing the motorcycles speeding and passing cars in no-passing zones in the moments leading up to the accident. The investigation is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office Cash Investigation Unit, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
