The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Chandra C. Finley, age 34 of Poughkeepsie, for grand larceny and welfare fraud stemming from a 2-month long investigation.
Investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, in conjunction with the Dutchess County Dept. of Social Services’ Special Investigations Unit, has revealed that Ms. Finley allegedly stole $3,600 in SNAP benefits (food stamps) and temporary assistance from March 2011 – May 2012. Ms. Finley is accused of stealing the benefits by claiming that she was not working when in fact she was.
Ms. Finley was arrested on 8/21/14 and charged with grand larceny 3rd degree and welfare fraud 3rd degree, both Class D Felonies. After being processed, she was arraigned at the City of Poughkeepsie Court and released on her own recognizance to appear at a later date.
As with any criminal case, the charges described here are merely accusations and Ms. Finley is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
