On February 19, 2015 at approximately 8:15pm, Deputy Sheriffs responded to the area of 505 Old Route 22 in the Town of Amenia for a reported one car automobile crash that had occurred at that location.

Upon arrival Deputies located a 1998 Mitsubishi that was laying on its side, and Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle’s operator. Interview with a witness revealed that the operator had left the scene.

Deputies were subsequently able to locate the suspected operator of the vehicle near his home in the Town of Dover. The operator was later identified as one Ignacio R. Perez (age 26) of Mill Street, Dover Plains NY.

During interview and investigation with Perez, Deputy Sheriffs determined that Perez was allegedly intoxicated at the time he was operating his vehicle. While attempting to arrest Perez, he became physically combative. Deputies were eventually able to take Perez into custody.

Perez was charged with driving while intoxicated (Class E Felony, second offense), resisting arrest (Class A misdemeanor), and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Perez was arraigned in the Town of Amenia Justice Court, and was able to post his bail. Perez is to appear in the Town of Amenia Court on March 3, 2015.

As with any criminal case, the charges described here are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
