The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Randy G. Miles, age 57 of Kent CT, in connection with the hit-and-run crash on 3/19/15 that killed Concetta Eastman of Copake, NY.

The vehicle believed to be involved in the crash was located in the Town of Kent on Saturday 3/21/15. Initially, Mr. Miles could not be located until Monday 3/23/15 when he was located and interviewed in Connecticut. On Tuesday 3/24/15, Mr. Miles turned himself in to Sheriff’s Office Detectives and was officially charged in connection with the crash. The vehicle remains in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office and no further details will be released at this time in order to preserve upcoming court proceedings.

At this time, Mr. Miles has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal auto accident, which is a Class D Felony. After being processed, he was arraigned before the Town of Amenia Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. The investigation is continuing and further charges are possible.

The success of this investigation and the resulting arrest are due in large part to the hard work conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.

Information provided through the Sheriff’s Office tipline also proved valuable to this investigation and the Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all those who provided information and devoted their attention to the bulletin for the vehicle. The Connecticut State Police also assisted with the investigation.

As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations and Mr. Miles is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As previously stated, the investigation is continuing and more information may be released as it becomes available.
