The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a one-car fatal auto accident which occurred on State Route 199 in the Town of Pine Plains at approximately 10:45 pm on 1/20/15.
On the above date and time, Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with the Town of Pine Plains Police to Route 199 near Mt. Ross Road for a report of a serious auto accident. Upon arrival the driver/sole occupant, later identified as Jeffrey J. D’Aguilar (age 28 of Kingston), was unconscious and appeared to have life-threatening injuries. Mr. D’Aguilar was transported by ambulance to Northern Dutchess Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Mr. D’Aguilar was operating a 2005 Honda Accord eastbound on Route 199, just east of Mt. Ross Road, when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then overturned and Mr. D’Aguilar was partially ejected. Mr. D’Aguilar was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The accident is under investigation by members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and preliminary investigation suggests that driver inattention is a possible factor.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Town of Pine Plains Police, Pine Plains Fire Department, Pine Plains Ambulance and Northern Dutchess Paramedics. More information may be released as it becomes available.
