The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Frederick A. Eberhard, age 25 of LaGrangeville, on 2/19/15 for impersonating a police officer. Mr. Eberhard is a former part-time Deputy Sheriff with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and a former part-time police officer with the Town of Marlborough Police Department.

The Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau made the arrest after investigating complaints from local tow companies that Mr. Eberhard had allegedly been pretending to be a police officer. Mr. Eberhard had been working for one of the companies as a driver and during the course of doing business, had crossed paths with some of the other local drivers at scenes.

At this time, Mr. Eberhard has been charged with criminal impersonation in the 2nd degree, which is a class A Misdemeanor. After being processed, he was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear before the Town of LaGrange Court on 3/3/15.

As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
