The Dutchess County Comptroller’s Office has released their audit report of the 2024 Maintenance in Lieu of Rent (MLR). The MLR is produced annually by the Department of Public Works, providing occupancy-related costs for the maintenance of County-occupied buildings. The information provided in the MLR will allow the Comptroller’s Office to verify the information used in the preparation of the ICAP (Indirect Cost Allocation Report), which is used by the Department of Community and Family Services (DCFS) to make a claim for federal reimbursement of indirect costs associated with federal grant programs.
A total of $9.95 million dollars was identified as maintenance in lieu costs, and a total of $2 million was billed to various County departments and contract agencies. The Comptroller’s Office continues to encourage departments to budget for actual MLR costs in order for DPW to recoup the costs incurred for building maintenance.
