The Dutchess County Comptroller’s Office has released its regularly scheduled audit of petty cash funds throughout County Departments, verifying cash counts on hand and the processes by which the funds are used and safeguarded. The total petty cash verified across 13 departments for the time period January 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024 was $19,275.14. There was 119 replenishments totaling $12,081.73. The last petty cash audit was released by the Comptroller’s Office in 2022.

The Comptroller’s Office continues to recommend regular reconciliations by Departments, with designated supervisory support. Departments that rarely use petty cash should consider phasing it out and returning the funds to the Finance Department.
