County Attorney - Department of Community and Family Services Division

The County Attorney-DCFS Legal Unit is comprised of a Bureau Chief and five staff attorneys assigned to the Department of Community and Family Services by the County Attorney.

The attorneys provide legal advice to the various divisions and represent DCFS in Family Court cases and in related matters in other court and legal forums.  Among the attorneys’ chief duties are handling cases involving adult protection, child abuse and/or neglect, foster care and severance of parental rights and prosecuting support collection cases.
