Poughkeepsie… On Wednesday, August 2nd, Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro will host a “County Government on the Road” informational fair for County residents from 6pm to 7pm at the Dover Town Hall, located at 126 East Duncan Hill Road in Dover Plains.   The fair will feature multiple county government departments providing information on county government services and programs.  Representatives will be on hand to answer questions on specific topics of interest.   Following the information fair, at 7pm,  the County Executive will host the first of three public meetings to present the County-Wide Shared Services Tax Savings Plan, as mandated by a provision of the 2017-18 New York State Budget.  The proposed plan can be found online at County Wide Shared Service Initiative.

“We are looking forward to a great evening in Dover with valuable information for residents to take advantage of all of the programs and services county government has to offer,” said County Executive Molinaro.  “We will also present our Shared Services Plan that we spent the last few months working on collaboratively with local city, town and village officials as well as school districts and BOCES.    This is an excellent opportunity for residents to learn about the extensive shared services already in place and the new ideas for improved efficiency and cost savings for taxpayers.”

More than a dozen Dutchess County departments and agencies will take part in the Information Fair from 6pm to 7pm, including:

• County Executive’s Office
• County Legislature
• County Clerk
• Sheriff’s Office
• Comptroller
• Public Works
• Behavioral & Community Health
• Community & Family Services
• Office for the Aging
• Human Resources
• Veterans Services
• Emergency Response
• Traffic Safety & STOP-DWI
• Central Services

Additionally, a representative from the Office of the New York State Comptroller will have a table at the event to provide assistance and information to residents on a variety of topics, including how to obtain unclaimed funds.

At 7pm, County Executive Molinaro will present the County-Wide Shared Services Tax Savings Plan and seek feedback from residents about the proposed plan.    The plan is the result of  multiple meetings of the shared service panel, consisting of local city, town and village officials, along with representatives from school districts, BOCES, and special improvement districts, held over the past few months.   The proposed plan is available on the County’s Countywide Shared Services Initiative website.

The plan has been submitted for review to the Dutchess County Legislature.   The Legislature will hear a presentation on the proposed plan at its August 10th committee meeting.     In addition to the August 2nd public hearing at Dover Town Hall, there will be two other public hearings for residents to learn about the plan and offer their feedback.  Those hearings are as follows:

August 30th at 6pm at the Wappinger Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls

August 31st at 10am in the Dutchess County Legislature Chambers, 22 Market Street, Poughkeepsie

Following the public hearings, the shared services panel must approve, modify or disapprove the plan and submit it to the state before the September 15th, 2017 submission deadline.
