Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced paving work is scheduled to begin next week on the Dutchess Rail Trail parking lot at Morgan Lake on Creek Road in Poughkeepsie. Work will include grading the parking lot and a first course of asphalt. The parking lot will be closed to the public while construction and paving is underway. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 20th and is anticipated to be concluded by Friday, May 24th, weather permitting. Final work on the parking lot will be done in mid to late summer to complete the final course of paving and other improvements.

Alternate parking for the Dutchess Rail Trail is available at Love Road, behind the Stop & Shop Plaza off of Route 44 and at Overocker Road, near the Poughkeepsie Town Hall. A complete list of Dutchess Rail Trail parking locations is available on the County’s website.

The Morgan Lake parking lot paving project is part of the work being done to connect the Dutchess Rail Trail to the Walkway Over the Hudson. Work on this project, as well as Stage 4 of the Dutchess Rail Trail which includes the bridge over Rt. 55, is currently underway and is expected to be complete by late fall.
