William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail

COVID-19 UPDATE: After careful contemplation, Dutchess County Parks has decided to delay placing out the port-a-lets on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail and William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trails while the COVID pandemic is on-going and still a strong concern.  We feel the use of port-a-lets without proper sanitary disinfection in the form of sinks is not in the public’s best interest at this time.  We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your cooperation and support during these challenging times.

This 13.4-mile continuous paved trail runs from the Walkway Over the Hudson (with a direct link to the regional trail network) to the restored Hopewell Depot at its East Fishkill Trailhead in the hamlet of Hopewell along the former Maybrook Rail corridor through the towns of Poughkeepsie, LaGrange, Wappinger and East Fishkill. Come on out and enjoy the outdoors with a stroll or bike ride with family and friends along the WRS Dutchess Rail Trail.

Groups and organizations looking to hold special events must obtain a permit. Please call the Parks main office at 845-298-4600 for an application. Permit requires a fee and submission of required insurance.
