LEGISLATURE SEEKS CITIZENS TO SERVE ON THE FOLLOWING COMMITTEES AND BOARDS:

 

CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL - Citizen Member – 2 Year Term

The Dutchess County Criminal Justice Council engages in a collaborative process of information sharing to maximize resources resulting in an enhanced criminal justice process. This work is done through utilizing research-based practices to ensure community safety through the promotion and support of intervention for at-risk youth and adults; addressing victims’ needs; and reduction of recidivism. DUTCHESS COMMUNITY COLLEGE - Trustee – 7 Year Term

The College is governed by a board of trustees consisting of 10 members, four appointed by the governor of the State of New York and five by the Dutchess County Legislature. The tenth member, a student trustee, is the student government president elected by the students annually. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COUNCIL - Member – 2 Year Term

The primary mission of the EMC is to advise the Dutchess County Legislature and County Government on matters affecting the preservation, development, and use of the natural resources, features and conditions of Dutchess County that impact the quality of the environment. The EMC also considers matters referred to it by the County Legislature for research and recommendations.  For further information and meeting dates, please visit https://dutchessemc.org/

 

FISH AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT BOARD (DISTRICT 3) -  Landowner Representative (alternate) – 2 Year Term

Must reside on rural lands that engage in production of agricultural commodities or forest products.  Encourages the preservation and development of fish and wildlife resources on privately-owned lands and waters, and to improve public recreational access to these resources. This Board meets March, June, September, and December on the third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

 

RESOURCE RECOVERY AGENCY - Member – 3 Year Term

The Resource Recovery Agency is a public benefit corporation created by the New York State Legislature for the purpose of providing solid waste management services for Dutchess County. For further information and meeting dates, please visit: http://www.dcrra.org/

 

TICK TASK FORCE - Member – 2 Year Term

The mission of the Tick Task Force is to develop long-term goals and make recommendations to the Legislature in the efforts of understanding and safely controlling ticks and reducing Lyme Disease and other tick-borne diseases. VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE - Three Members – 2 Year Term - Two of Which Must Be a Veteran or Immediate Family Member of a Veteran

The Veterans Affairs Committee has the duty to make recommendations and advise the County Executive through the Director of Veterans Services, on issues of concern to Dutchess County veterans, and that in addition to advising the Legislature prior to taking any action which may affect veterans in accordance with their original charge, to also inform and advise the Dutchess County Legislature on any potential legislative matters of interest to veterans. This committee meets as necessary.
