In 1968, after a comprehensive revision of the Dutchess County Charter, a new form of county government was created: an independently elected legislature.  This year the Dutchess County Legislature celebrates its 50th Anniversary serving the people of Dutchess County in the best tradition of a representative democracy.

In commemoration of its 50th Anniversary the Dutchess County Legislature will host its August 20th Board Meeting at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, 6550 Spring Brook Avenue, Rhinebeck, on Livestock Hill at 7 PM.

At one time, Dutchess County’s Legislature was comprised mostly of farmers.  As the Legislature’s only farmer, Chairman Gregg Pulver looks to its storied past to make Dutchess County a better place.

Please join us in celebrating this special occasion.
