There are seven Deputy Fire Coordinators assigned to individual response areas known as “Battalions.” At the request of the County Fire Coordinator or a Fire Chief, Deputy Coordinators respond to mutual aid events and assist in providing mutual aid equipment, assistance and other resources. They work closely with Fire Chiefs (or Incident Commanders) in ensuring life safety priorities and the integrity of the emergency scene.
Deputy Coordinators also work with local governmental agencies in developing disaster plans at the local level and assist with pre-planning activities and exercising these plans. They meet regularly with the fire chiefs to facilitate open communications as well as interface with the 9-1-1 Communications Center. They also represent the County Coordinator at the local level.
