2023 Agricultural District Review Report with Appendices

Every eight years, the AFPB initiates a full review and certification process for all Districts, which is administered by the Dutchess County Department of Planning and Development, with significant help from Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County and the Dutchess County Soil & Water Conservation District. The most recent 8-year certification process (2023) resulted in a recommendation to include 4,122 parcels in the consolidated District 21.

The next review will commence in 2031.

Dutchess County Agricultural Statistics

Farm Friendly Audit (2019)

In 2019, Dutchess County completed a Farm Friendly Audit of all 30 towns and villages. This assessment reviewed how local policies, zoning, and planning practices support agriculture. The audit helps municipalities identify where they are already farm friendly and where improvements can be made.

The Partnership for Manageable Growth (PMG) program helps protect important agricultural and open space resources.
