The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office hosts FREE courses throughout the county to help eligible, interested candidates prepare for the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff & Police Officer Civil Service Exam administered by Dutchess County Human Resources, as well as the subsequent required physical fitness test. Candidates who pass the civil service exam, physical fitness test, background investigation and medical exam are added to the eligible list that is used to fill vacancies as they occur for DEPUTY SHERIFF positions in the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and for POLICE OFFICER positions in local municipal law enforcement agencies throughout Dutchess County.
