Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Office of Veterans Affairs Director Adam Roche proudly welcome our neighbors throughout Dutchess County to nominate a living veteran for the County's "Veteran of Distinction" program. The initiative recognizes the outstanding service and sacrifice of Dutchess County's veterans who are still with us. The County will celebrate them at monthly ceremonies, from April through November.
To be eligible for this distinction, the veteran must be a Dutchess County resident who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge; both wartime and peacetime service are eligible, with no restrictions on service dates or duration.
Applications are available online or at the Dutchess County Office of Veterans Affairs, located at 1335 Route 44 in Pleasant Valley. The Office of Veterans Affairs 2026 series of "Veteran of Distinction" events will recognize Dutchess County's living World War II veterans.
We appreciate you supporting our "Veteran of Distinction" program. We are eager to share the stories of Dutchess County veterans' heroism with our neighbors.
