Poughkeepsie… “We commend the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the Dutchess County Drug Task Force and other local law enforcement for their work getting heroin off the streets. Heroin use is a rapidly escalating problem, with more overdoses being reported than ever before, from all across Dutchess County. There is a clear need for agencies and individuals beyond the law enforcement community to help tackle this issue. Our Health & Human Services Cabinet is focusing its efforts on confronting prescription drug abuse and the link to heroin use. We need parents, school officials and other members of our community to join efforts like the Council on Addiction, Prevention and Education’s Community Coalition to build awareness and take part in drug prevention efforts. Together, we can confront this issue and save lives.”
