Municipalities and User Agencies

The Dutchess County Department of Human Resources is responsible for administering Civil Service Law for all Classified services for Dutchess County departments, towns, villages, cities, special districts, school districts and Dutchess Community College. As the civil service agency for the County and all local government entities within the County, the department is involved in:

• Conducting civil service examinations
• Establishing and maintaining eligible lists for competitive positions, 
• Classifying positions and creating job specifications
• Reviewing and approving appointments and personnel changes,
• Maintaining employee roster records and position records,
• Certifying municipal payrolls
