Most information on the property tax bill is mandated by state law. There’s a lot of information shown on the bill and it is important that property owners understand its contents. In a collective effort among our assessment, tax and IT professionals, Dutchess County has designed a tax bill that arranges this information in an easier to read format.
You can view a sample bill and get a brief description of selected items by choosing any of the bill formats at the bottom of this page. Hovering over or clicking on a red arrow will display a brief explanation of each topic. More information on the contents of the property tax bill can be obtained from a pamphlet published by the NYS Office of Real Property Tax Services at: http://www.tax.ny.gov/pubs_and_bulls/orpts/tentasmtroll.htm
Currently, the Town of Poughkeepsie, Town of Wappinger, and Town of Hyde Park allow taxes to be paid in three installments. All other municipalities allow for single payments only. Please note: the City of Poughkeepsie uses its own bill format.
The sample bills are for information only and are not representative of any specific tax bill. They are not to be used to estimate actual taxes. Your bill may display more special districts or use different wording for specific tax purposes.
