The Dutchess County Division of Weights & Measures enforces Article 16 of the NYS Agriculture and Markets Law.
Inspections are performed annually at every Dutchess County establishment that uses a weighing or measuring device when selling a product.
These inspections protect both the buyer and the seller in Dutchess County. The buyer is assured they will get what they paid for, and the seller is assured of a marketplace based on fair competition.
Weights & Measures also enforces Dutchess County local laws regarding the sale of gasoline, precious metals, item pricing, and unfair and deceptive trade practices including gas station posting of prices.
