“I was honored to introduce County Executive Marc Molinaro for his 4th State of the County Address. Once again, County Executive Molinaro presented us with a clear and forward thinking vision that will continue to put Dutchess County on a path to greater prosperity.

Now, we must get to work to implement the initiatives presented in today’s address, I agree that economic development, attracting and maintaining jobs must continue to be our primary focus. However, economic development incentives alone will not keep our residents here. We must continue to combat the many other societal issues that plague our communities including crime, drug abuse, homelessness, and infrastructure decay.

As Marc said, we must not give up. I applaud the County Executive for his early initiative to invest in non-profit agency programs and municipal shared services/consolidation projects in an ongoing effort to meet community needs and save taxpayer dollars. As we begin to consider 2016 budget initiatives, I would ask my colleagues in the Legislature to consider additional funds for these two grant programs so that more targeted investments - particularly in the City of Poughkeepsie can enhance the quality of life for our residents and families. The City of Poughkeepsie is key to the success of Dutchess County and I know together, we can do more to improve it.

Over the last four years, the County Executive and Legislature have collaborated to exceed expectations to benefit our County. I have been proud to partner with him as Chairman of the Legislature and look forward to working together as we move forward.”
