Coordinated Plan

We're updating our Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan (or Coordinated Plan), which seeks to improve local transportation services for people with disabilities and older adults.

The Coordinated Plan involves:

  • Identifying transportation needs and existing service gaps for people with disabilities and older adults
  • Providing strategies, whether projects or policies, for meeting those needs
  • Prioritizing transportation projects and services to improve their access to basic needs and key destinations

Developing a Coordinated Plan provides agencies with the means to apply for federal funding, such as the FTA’s Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (Section 5310) Program. This program provides funds for capital purchases and operating expenses, including specially equipped buses or vans. A portion of the funds may also be used to support mobility management services.

We’re developing the Coordinated Plan with the assistance of a consultant team and Advisory Committee that includes members from key stakeholder agencies and organizations (e.g., Dutchess County Office for the Aging, thinkDIFFERENTLY, Taconic Resources for Independence, North East Community Center, and more).
